William W. Stanton VII is an aggressive and dedicated Virginia criminal defense attorney and former prosecutor who protects the rights and freedom of clients facing criminal and traffic charges. As the founder of Stanton Law in Central Virginia, he provides strategic, results-driven representation for individuals across Richmond, Henrico, Chesterfield, and throughout the state of Virginia. A Richmond native, Mr. Stanton graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Richmond’s Jepson School of Leadership Studies, earning the second-highest GPA in his class. He earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Richmond School of Law as a John Marshall Scholar, the school’s highest merit scholarship. He was inducted into the Order of the Coif and the McNeil Law Society, served on Law Review, and received awards for Advanced Trial Practice. Before founding Stanton Law, Mr. Stanton served for more than ten years as a criminal prosecutor for the Commonwealth. His prosecutorial background provides him with a detailed understanding of how cases are built, investigated, and tried, which now allows him to develop stronger and more effective defenses for his clients.
