About Rajin Olson

Rajin is a partner in Thompson Hine's Intellectual Property & Technology Litigation group. He focuses his practice on intellectual property litigation, including patent, trade secret, copyright, and licensing disputes. He is dedicated to securing practical, business-driven solutions for clients, whether through strategic negotiation, litigation or trial advocacy. He has represented both plaintiffs and defendants in high-stakes technology disputes involving some of the world’s largest companies. His experience spans a broad spectrum of technologies, including mobile communications, semiconductors, IT network management, video streaming, speech coding, and software. As a registered patent attorney, he also handles inter partes review proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board. With a multicultural background and a passion for continuous learning, Rajin brings fresh perspectives and innovative problem-solving to his practice. His diverse academic foundation—combining civil engineering, Spanish, and international studies—equips him with both technical insight and a global mindset when addressing complex legal challenges. Rajin is committed to pro bono advocacy, particularly in immigration and transgender rights. He collaborates with the Binger Center for New Americans at the University of Minnesota Law School, assisting immigrants seeking relief in court. Additionally, he serves on the board of Agate Housing and Services, a Minneapolis nonprofit dedicated to preventing and addressing homelessness.
