About Michaela Kerls

When you’re dealing with a family law matter, having someone who is both knowledgeable and compassionate by your side can make all the difference. As a Junior Associate Attorney with Stange Law Firm, I am proud to serve clients from our Topeka, Kansas office. My goal is to help individuals and families navigate complex legal challenges with care and understanding. I earned my Juris Doctor from Washburn University School of Law in Topeka, Kansas, graduating in May 2019. During my time in law school, I was honored to be inducted into the Order of the Barrister and had the privilege of serving as President of the Washburn Law Democrats in 2019. I was also an active member of the Trial Advocacy Team from 2016 to 2019, which allowed me to further develop my passion for courtroom advocacy and public service. Before pursuing my law degree, I completed both my Master of Liberal Studies and Bachelor of Arts degrees at Washburn University, where my graduate research focused on social movements and political conflict. Before joining Stange Law Firm, I gained valuable legal experience working with a law firm in Topeka. There, I served as both a Legal Assistant and later as an Attorney, where my responsibilities included conducting legal research, drafting pleadings, managing discoveries, and preparing cases for court. Earlier in my career, I also worked with a law firm in Olathe, Kansas, where I assisted with juvenile law, water regulation matters, and estate planning documentation. My approach to legal representation is rooted in a commitment to putting clients first. No matter the domestic law matter at hand, I strive to ensure that my clients feel supported, informed, and empowered every step of the way.
