About Luke Woods

Luke is a career Criminal Defense Attorney in the State of Maryland having practiced criminal defense since 1997, after receiving a Bachelor from Reed College and a JD from Northwestern School of Law. He started his career as a DOJ law clerk for the landmark racketeering case against the tobacco industry, while serving as a JAG officer in the US Army Reserves. After those positions in the early 2000s, Luke centered his practice exclusively in DUI and criminal defense, including juvenile court, in multiple jurisdictions in Maryland, gaining trial experience through representation of clients in thousands cases in District, Circuit, and Juvenile Court. Luke represented clients through every stage of the criminal process, from commissioner hearings, juvenile intakes and bond, to motions, trial and sentencing, reconsideration and appeal, and everything in between, including waiver/transfer hearings, parole and VOP hearings, habeas corpus proceedings, and specialty courts (drug court and mental health dockets.) Luke has built a reputation in quickly identifying and doggedly pursuing the defenses in his client's cases, with broad knowledge and experience in all levels of felony and misdemeanors in District, Circuit and Juvenile, including DUI and traffic offenses, from simple theft and trespassing in District to manslaughter and murder in Circuit, including all levels of drug offenses, gun related offenses, violent offenses, burglary, and sex offenses. In January of 2022, Luke formed FrizWoods, LLC, to cater to individual clients in need of criminal or juvenile defense who want an accessible knowledgeable attorney in their corner.
