About Laura Hansen

I know choosing an attorney is tough, and hopefully this information helps you. I co-founded my law firm, Just Law in 2010 because I saw a need for a different type of law firm. One that wasn't focused on a make money at all costs mentality. One that didn't leave scorched earth in the wake of a family law case. My law partner and I started a firm where we focus on the family and we try to be settlement-oriented, but still tough when we need to be. Our flat fee approach ensures that the focus stays on achieving the best outcome using client's resources to their maximum potential. I've been practicing family law for over 10 years. I graduated from law school at Brigham Young University in 2003. Post law school, I worked with Utah Legal Services doing family law and also practiced in the areas of Social Security and Immigration law with a private law firm in St. George, UT. In 2006 I began working at the at the State Guardian ad Litem office in St. George representing children, in District and Juvenile Court cases, who had been abused, neglected or abandoned. In 2007 I moved to Salt Lake City and worked at the West Jordan Courthouse with the Guardian ad Litem’s office representing children involved in high conflict divorces. I am trained as a mediator and love dispute resolution. I received my Basic Mediation Training with the Utah State Courts in 2007 and myAdvanced Domestic Mediation training at the Center for Advanced Mediation Studies in 2009. I have attended hundreds of mediations and I am a firm believer that people can create the best solutions for their own problems with a little help. I love coming up with creative solutions that work well for families and helping them to move on to the next chapter in their lives. I am also trained in Collaborative Law, undergoing training with the International Association of Collaborative Practice in 2012 and I currently serve on the Board of the Utah Association of Collaborative Professionals.
