Having a lifelong interest in law, Karissa completed a B.A. at the University of Pittsburgh in Political Science and English Writing in 2014, and moved on to obtain a Juris Doctor degree at Pittsburghβs Duquesne University School of Law in 2018. While in a civil rights clinic at Duquesne University, she helped to organize and participate in a large scale expungement and pardon workshop for individuals in Allegheny County. Karissa discovered while in law school that personal injury law was her passion, and started working for a Pittsburgh-area civil law firm during her first year of study. Having lived with her mother in Pennsylvania from childhood, Karissa was inspired to settle down in Pittsburgh to pursue her dream career as an attorney. Karissa has a deep understanding of how her practice can benefit the people of Pennsylvania. She has completed several clinics and internships around civil rights and meaningful research with practices in and around Pittsburgh. Volunteering with election protection is one way Karissa stays connected to her community. Additionally, Karissa holds many forms of recognition from national organizations. For example, Karissa was awarded Nationally Ranked Top 10 Under 40 Lawyer in the Field of Personal Injury from the National Academy of Personal Injury Attorneys in 2020. She also received First Place National Moot Court Champion in 2017 from the George Washington School of Law.
