About John Clark

As a criminal defense attorney, John has fought aggressively for his clients’ rights in cases involving serious felonies, including murder, malicious wounding, drug possession/distribution, white-collar crimes, and sex crimes (e.g. rape, child pornography) as well as all types of misdemeanors, including DUI, assault and battery, and simple driving infractions, such as reckless driving. As a civil litigation lawyer, John has experience in both jury trials and bench trials, and has represented clients in cases worth millions of dollars. Early on in his career, he litigated patent infringement cases all over the country. Over the years, he has continued to excel in various types of civil litigation, including family law. Among his peers, John is known to approach each case, big or small, with the same sharp legal insight and impressive communication skills. A true professional, his knowledge of the legal community gives him a distinct advantage during trial since he is familiar with the styles and techniques of opposing counsel. During his studies at the University of Dayton School, John did an externship with a U.S. Magistrate Judge in Dayton, and passed the Patent Bar, then graduated UDSL cum laude and ninth in his class of 156 students. Once he passed the Florida Bar and the D.C. Bar, he worked with several excellent law firms, including D.C.-based Venable, an AmLaw 100 firm. After the birth of his first child, John decided to work nearer his young family in Virginia and shifted from patent law to criminal law and civil litigation out of a desire to, in his words, “work with people one-on-one and help them with their real-life situations.”
