Jessica M. Laughlin is an Associate Attorney at Robert M. Brenner Law Office in Gering Nebraska. She has been practicing as a private attorney since February 2021. As a Nebraska Mediator, Jessica sat on a small committee that was tasked with drafting the ethics standards for RJ mediators and facilitators in the State of Nebraska under the Office of Dispute Resolution and currently is an Nebraska Mediation Association (NMA) board member. Jessica received her Juris Doctor from UNL College of Law in 2015 with a focus in criminal law and litigation and is a member of the Nebraska and Colorado Bar. Prior to working as private counsel, Jessica was a Deputy County Attorney with the Scotts Bluff County Attorney’s Office where she primarily worked the DUI and traffic docket consisting of both Felony and Misdemeanor Cases. Jessica was lead prosecutor on over 60 trials during her time at the County Attorney’s Office. Prior to attending law school, Jessica worked as a police officer in rural Nebraska for seven years. Jessica was a field training officer and worked with new officers on the 4th amendment and legal principals related to arrest search and seizure, as well as the practical limitations of police officers working the roads of Nebraska.
