About Jane Bassett

Jane Bassett guides clients through the challenges of aging, end-of-life planning, and major life transitions. As Managing Partner, she leads a multidisciplinary team addressing elder law, estate planning, long-term care, LGBTQIA+ issues, adoption, and assisted reproduction. By combining legal strategy with care management and fiduciary support, her team helps clients maximize resources while ensuring thoughtful, personalized solutions. An accredited VA attorney, Jane also assists with Veterans Benefits, Medicaid, Medicare, and Social Security, staying ahead of legal changes to offer clients the best options available. She emphasizes listening deeply, presenting clear choices, and empowering families to make informed decisions. A long-time advocate for the elderly and LGBTQIA+ community, Jane has served on the Michigan State Bar’s Elder Law & Disability Rights Section, the National Family Law Advisory Committee for the National Center for Lesbian Rights, and as Co-Chair of the Washtenaw County Bar Association Probate Section. She is an active member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and the LGBT Bar/NCLR Family Law Institute, and is frequently invited to speak for the Institute for Continuing Legal Education and community organizations. Jane’s distinguished record of service gained her admission to the U.S. Supreme Court, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, and the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan. She earned her J.D., cum laude, from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law, holds a master’s in music theory & literature from Eastern Michigan University, and a bachelor’s in vocal performance from Albion College.
