About James Buikema

My mission is to provide trusted, compassionate, and dedicated criminal defense for individuals in Rockford and the surrounding Stateline region. I strive to ensure that every client feels heard, understood, and strongly defended at every stage of the legal process. I am licensed to practice law in both Indiana and Illinois, and I have been practicing criminal law for about eight years. My career began in Indianapolis, where I worked as a prosecutor handling cases involving DUIs, misdemeanors, and felonies. Later, I transitioned to private criminal defense in Indianapolis, where I worked on a variety of cases, including criminal matters, expungements, and divorces. Throughout my career, I have tried numerous cases as both a prosecutor and a defense attorney, across Indiana and Illinois.
