About J. Murphy
Dennis Murphy is the Senior Partner of the firm and a seasoned attorney with decades of legal experience across both federal and state courts. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland Baltimore County in 1982 and went on to receive his Juris Doctor from the University of Baltimore School of Law in 1985. From 1986 to 1990, Mr. Murphy served as an officer in the U.S. Navy Judge Advocate General’s Corps. During this time, he worked as a Special Assistant United States Attorney, handling a broad range of criminal cases in the United States District Courts for the District of Maryland and the Territory of Guam. Between 1988 and 1990, he was assigned to the legal staff of the Superintendent of the United States Naval Academy, where he continued to gain substantial courtroom and advisory experience. Since founding the firm in 1990, Mr. Murphy has devoted his legal career to defending clients in criminal and traffic cases throughout Maryland, including matters involving serious felony charges. He brings a practical, strategic approach to his work, informed by his years as a federal prosecutor. Mr. Murphy is admitted to practice before several courts, including the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, the United States Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces, the United States District Court for the District of Maryland, and the Court of Appeals of Maryland.
