About Georgetta Glaves-Innis

I was born and raised in the Island of Jamaica. I moved to the United States at sixteen years old and obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Miami where I was on the Provost Honor Roll. I received my Juris Doctorate from Jacob D. Fuchsberg, Touro Law School in 2000 and passed the bar in the same year. I was an Editor on the International Law Review Journal, where I published "Organ Donation and Incompetents, can they consent? Comparative Analysis of American and Canadian Laws of Consent and brain death determination." Touro International L.R. Vol 10, Spring 2000. I took advantage of a judicial externship during my first year of law school where I worked with the late Honorable Cira Martinez in the Bronx Family Court. After graduating from law school, I moved to Georgia and worked in the City of Atlanta Public Defender's Office. I was also an Associate Professor at Morehouse College for 10 years, and 1 year at Clarke Atlanta University. Two years later, I started my own practice. After years in the courtroom, I now practice exclusively family law and am a Partner at Meriwether and Tharp. In addition to working to ensure fair settlements in these cases, I believe a part of my role as an Attorney is to help my clients to identify their goals, educate them on the divorce process, and help them to reach a resolution. I strive to help clients to understand the legal implications associated with their choices and provide them with the information they need to make the best decisions for themselves. In addition to being admitted into Georgia Superior Court, I am admitted to practice in the Court of Appeals, the Georgia Supreme Court, and the United States District Courts for the Northern, Middle, and Southern Districts. In my years of representing clients in family law cases, I have earned a reputation amongst my colleagues for being tough but caring, honest but shrewd, strong but sensitive.
