About Ellen Carlson

Ellen Carlson is a Senior Associate Attorney at The Bagley Law Firm, where she focuses on matters involving juvenile and family law. Originally from Texas, Ellen graduated summa cum laude from Southern Methodist University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Religious Studies and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance Performance. She subsequently obtained her Juris Doctor from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law, where she served as a student attorney in the Child Advocacy Practicum. It was through this experience that she developed a strong commitment advocating for children and families. Following law school, Ellen served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Ann Gail Meinster, Presiding Juvenile Court Judge in Jefferson County, Colorado. She then dedicated seven years as a court-appointed Guardian ad Litem, representing the best interests of children in Dependency and Neglect and Juvenile Delinquency proceedings. Additionally, Ellen worked with a local non-profit organization, providing pro bono civil legal services to youth transitioning out of the foster care system. In addition to her legal practice, Ellen shares her expertise as an instructor with the Kempe Center for the Prevention and Treatment of Child Abuse. In this role, she develops and conducts training programs to educate new Department of Human Services caseworkers on navigating the legal system. Outside of her professional endeavors, Ellen enjoys spending time at local libraries and bookstores. She also loves exploring Colorado with her husband and two children.
