About Darron Berquist

I am the managing attorney for the firmโ€™s asbestos practice in New York. My work involves representing individuals affected by asbestos-related diseases, including mesothelioma, lung cancer, and ovarian cancer. Additionally, I contribute to the firmโ€™s pharmaceutical and product liability groups, focusing on matters involving expert witnesses. I graduated from the University of Kentucky in 2004 and earned my law degree from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in 2007. During law school, I served as the Business Editor of the Cardozo Journal of Conflict Resolution and provided legal assistance to low-income and disabled individuals through the Bet Tzedek Legal Services Clinic. Originally from Columbus, Ohio, I moved to New York for law school and began my legal career at Wilentz Goldman & Spitzer before joining the Lanier Law Firm. Between 2021 and 2024, I oversaw the pre-trial preparation for a groundbreaking asbestos case. In September 2024, I was part of the trial team that secured a $39,081,142.00 jury verdict for a client who developed malignant pleural mesothelioma following a surgical procedure involving talc pleurodesis. The talc used in the procedure, supplied by United Minerals and Properties Inc. (d/b/a CIMBAR Performance Minerals), was unknowingly contaminated with asbestos. The Boston jury found CIMBAR negligent, determined it had breached the implied warranty of merchantability, and concluded that its asbestos-containing talc was defectively designed.
